Gangrel discussed his entrance theme on Insight with Chris Van Vliet and said Jim Johnston wrote it essentially overnight: "They contacted me on a Friday. The entrance and all that was done Saturday for Sunday."

The whispering that opens the theme is a Beatles reference: "If you play it backwards, it'll say, 'I buried Paul. Walk with me.' He was a big Beatles fan, Jim Johnston."

Gangrel pointed Johnston to the Toadies' "Possum Kingdom" and still hears it in the finished track: "I hear a lot of the Toadies mixed riffs in there, slowed down and sped up, but nobody else does. They tell me I'm absolutely crazy."

He credited the song with keeping him booked decades later: "It keeps me current now. Everywhere you go, there's somebody doing something to my music."
