I read something recently that resonated deeply within my heart. 

“God didn’t call you to be liked, He called you to be a light. And light, by its very nature, makes darkness very uncomfortable.”

As someone who has always strived to be well liked by others, I know that desire can sometimes come at the cost of telling others about the goodness of God. Too often, I’ve worried about how I might be perceived instead of faithfully sharing the hope I’ve found in Christ.

I don’t want to get to the end of my life and realize I missed opportunities because I was afraid of making someone uncomfortable or being misunderstood. I want to be known first and foremost as someone who loved Jesus enough to speak His name with both grace and truth.

This isn’t about arguing with people or forcing my beliefs on anyone. It’s about loving people enough to share the greatest gift I’ve ever received. God’s mercy, His grace, and the hope of the gospel are too good to keep to myself.

I’m praying for the courage to choose faithfulness over approval, obedience over comfort, and God’s “well done” over the applause of people. If even one person comes to know the love of Christ because I was willing to be a light, then every uncomfortable moment will have been worth it.
