From the early season of RHOA, I saw Phaedra Parks as the kind of woman who understands that her success is within reach.

She is a lawyer by training, fully qualified and accomplished, yet she didn’t limit herself to one path. While many people in her position leaned into more obvious ventures, she chose to study mortuary science and step into a field historically dominated by men. That decision wasn’t just about opportunity, it was about purpose and agency. She was drawn to mortuary science after experiencing significant loss in her life.

She once said, “A Southern belle… knows what she wants and she gets it.” And that, to me, speaks to something deeper than confidence. It speaks to self-trust.

This is why it matters.
