Repost from realblackgirlpolitics: (THE TWO TEENS WITH DANIEL ERVING THAT DAY WERE WRONG FOR WHAT THEY ALLEGEDLY DID AFTER HE DISAPPEARED Eighteen-year-old Daniel Erving left home to go swimming and fishing with two other teens. They returned. Daniel did not. According to arrest affidavits and police reporting, 19-year-old Lucas Roper and a juvenile allegedly failed to report Daniel’s drowning, left the scene in Daniel’s car, discarded his clothing and cellphone, and deleted messages connected to him. Both have been charged with tampering with physical evidence. Let me be clear: even without jumping ahead of the evidence, those alleged actions were wrong. You do not leave someone in the water. You do not drive away in his car. You do not throw away his belongings. You do not delete messages because you are afraid of getting in trouble. And you do not allow his mother to search for days without telling her what happened. The Dallas County Medical Examiner ruled Daniel’s death an accidental drowning, but his family disputes that conclusion and is demanding that the evidence be presented for possible homicide charges. Ben Crump has now joined the family’s legal team as the investigation continues. Daniel was an honor-roll student, athlete, and swim team member. His family deserves more than silence, discarded evidence, and unanswered questions. These two teens have not been charged with causing Daniel’s death. But the conduct alleged in the affidavits is serious, disturbing, and deserving of full accountability. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty, and the investigation remains active. #JusticeForDanielErving #DanielErving #LakeRayHubbard #DallasTexas blackyouthmatter)
