Kid Cudi & Kanye West have one of the most influential but complicated friendships in hip-hop, and it seems like they’re rebuilding it 👀

Their story began in 2008 when Kanye discovered ‘A Kid Named Cudi’ and signed Cudi to G.O.O.D. Music. Cudi became a key creative force behind ‘808s & Heartbreak,’ co-writing songs like “Heartless” and “Welcome to Heartbreak” while helping shape the melodic, emotionally open sound that changed rap. 

Kanye later called Cudi his favorite artist 🫂

Over the next decade, they became close collaborators, working on ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,’ ‘Yeezus,’ and eventually ‘Kids See Ghosts,’ one of the defining collaborative albums of the 2010s. But their friendship was repeatedly tested, from creative disagreements to public fallouts in 2016 and again in 2022 after Kanye removed Cudi from ‘Donda 2’ over his friendship with Pete Davidson.

It seemed like things were over. In a 2025 interview, Cudi said, “I don’t think we’ll ever be friends again.” But now, just months later, he’s revealed the two have quietly started talking again, saying they’ve been checking in on each other with “no work talk” and even hinting that another collaboration could happen: “Who knows! One day soon for sure.” 😳
