My final 2025 LGBTQ+ Icon Bird—Sylvia Rivera! 

Sylvia Rivera was a Latina trans activist and a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, especially for trans people and queer youth of color. She was a key figure in the early gay liberation movement and a veteran of the 1969 Stonewall uprising. Alongside her close friend Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia co-founded STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) to support homeless trans youth. Her bold voice helped bring visibility to those often excluded from the mainstream LGBTQ+ movement.
