The impossible barehand plays, the crazy throws, and the energy — Javier Báez brought magic to the field. Among all his incredible skills, his signature move was the no-look tag: turning away from the runner and making a blind, perfect tag to catch steals at second base. 

With the Cubs, “El Mago” became one of baseball’s most exciting players. In 2018, he hit .290 with 34 home runs, 111 RBIs, made the All-Star team, won a Silver Slugger Award, and finished second in MVP voting.

Báez was a key part of the Cubs’ 2016 World Series championship team. His creativity and fearless style created unforgettable moments, with his legendary no-look tags becoming one of his trademarks.
