EVERY Tour Player Does This!

One thing you’ll notice with elite ball strikers?

They almost always have some degree of forward shaft lean at impact with their irons.

The anatomical reason why:

• Lead arm supination
• Lead wrist flexion

Those movements can help:

✅ Square the face
✅ Lean the shaft forward
✅ Improve compression

Simple drill:

Put a tee in your glove and make swings trying to keep the tee hidden from your view through impact.

This encourages:

• Better lead wrist flexion
• Better lead arm supination
• More forward shaft lean

Important note:

This isn’t my favorite way to create shaft lean.

I’d rather build it through a better pivot:

• Rotation
• Side bend
• Pressure forward

That allows shaft lean to happen more naturally.

But if you’ve never felt shaft lean before, this drill can be a great way to exaggerate the feeling and learn the movement.

And yes, I’m aware tour players move the lead wrist toward extension through impact. Most amateurs just get there far too early.
