Ordo_Liberal, a Brazilian Xbox gamer, took Microsoft to court after his hacked account was permanently suspended and his digital library became inaccessible. 

He fought back using Brazil’s consumer protection system with a public defender at no cost, instead of simply creating a new account and repurchasing his games. The court ruled in his favor, giving Microsoft 15 days to restore access with a daily penalty of R$150 (capped at R$1,500) if they failed. 

Microsoft was also ordered to pay R$2,000 in damages. The case has fueled debate over digital ownership when you buy a game online, do you truly own it, or are you just renting access until the platform decides otherwise?
