A viral incident at a GoodLife Fitness location in Windsor, Ontario has sparked a nationwide debate after a Sikh gym member said he was asked to leave because he was wearing a kirpan, a ceremonial article of faith carried by many initiated Sikhs. The interaction, which was recorded and shared online, has since generated millions of views and divided opinions across Canada. 

Following the backlash, GoodLife issued a public apology, saying the interaction did not reflect its established practices and reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion and compliance with Canadian human rights laws. The company says it is investigating what happened and has reached out to the individual involved.
