Dam Short Film Festival Returns to the Historic Boulder Theatre in 2027

One of Southern Nevada’s most beloved celebrations of independent cinema is set to return in February 2027 as the 23rd Annual Dam Short Film Festival once again welcomes filmmakers and film lovers to Boulder City. With film submissions already open and another exciting lineup on the horizon, the festival continues its tradition of showcasing some of the world’s most creative short-form storytelling. 

Founded in 2003 by Lee and Anita Lanier, the Dam Short Film Festival has grown from a grassroots passion project into an internationally respected event, screening thousands of films from around the globe while maintaining its welcoming, filmmaker-first atmosphere. Today, it ranks among the top-reviewed film festivals in the world on FilmFreeway and has become a cultural cornerstone for Southern Nevada’s independent film community. 

Adding to the festival’s charm is the iconic Boulder Theatre, a beautifully restored Art Deco landmark originally built in 1933. Located in the heart of historic Boulder City, the intimate venue provides a classic movie-going experience that perfectly complements the festival’s focus on storytelling and community. Walking through its doors feels like stepping back into Hollywood’s golden age, making it one of Nevada’s most distinctive screening locations.
