Martin Scorsese Returns to Las Vegas With Netflix Star-Studded Crime Drama “The Roman”

Las Vegas is once again becoming the backdrop for power, ambition, and organized crime. Netflix has officially revealed new details surrounding The Roman, an eight-episode drama executive produced by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, marking his return to Las Vegas nearly three decades after Casino became one of the defining crime films of its generation.

Leading the series is Oscar Isaac as Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the president of one of Las Vegas’ most powerful casino empires. Joining him is an impressive ensemble that includes Kate Mara, Vincent D’Onofrio, Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin, David Costabile, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jimmy O. Yang, Clancy Brown, Thomas Sadoski, and Jason Schwartzman. Created by Billions duo Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the series promises a modern crime saga where billion-dollar casinos, entertainment, sports, politics, and organized crime collide.

Behind the camera, J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier) will direct the opening two episodes, while Scorsese serves as executive producer alongside Koppelman, Levien, Oscar Isaac, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn, Paul Schiff, Beth Schacter, Kerry Orent, Tod Goldberg, and Sikelia Productions.

Production is scheduled to begin this month, with filming taking place across Las Vegas, Brooklyn, and other locations throughout New York City, giving the series both the glitz of the Strip and the gritty East Coast atmosphere that has become synonymous with Scorsese’s storytelling.

While Netflix has yet to reveal which Las Vegas resort will double as the headquarters of Bobby Red’s casino empire, speculation is already running wild. And with a title like The Roman, we can only imagine where they might be filming in Las Vegas. Of course, that’s just our own playful speculation until Netflix makes an official announcement.

No release date at this time but Fall/Winter 2027 looks promising.
