On Thursday, July 16th, Brown University (DI) men’s ice hockey coach Tom Upton announced Tom Peffall as assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Peffall, a native of Ambler, PA, most recently served as associate head coach with the Mercyhurst Lakers (DI) men’s program and had been on the coaching staff since 2022. He was named as the replacement for long-time head coach Rick Gotkin, who retired at the conclusion of this past season, but the university abruptly eliminated the program in March.

Peffall’s ties to Division III come from his two stints as an assistant coach with the men’s programs at Neumann (2015-2017) and Stevenson (2018-2022).

Other coaching stints have been serving as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Rebels (NAHL) for the 2017-2018 season. He’s also been involved with USAHockey for the last three seasons.
