There are few sounds in the automotive universe more intoxicating than a flat-six Porsche engine screaming at the top of its lungs.

Pushed to its absolute limit on a narrow country rally stage, this 911 bounces violently off its rev limiter, sending an immaculate, high-pitched mechanical wail echoing across the landscape.

The driver holds the throttle pinned to the floor right up until the last possible millisecond before aggressively dropping anchor to dance through a tight chicane.

Does hearing a naturally aspirated engine pushed to its absolute redline give you immediate goosebumps, or do you prefer the deep, low-end grunt of a heavy V8?
