Rolling from back to front is a milestone that typically happens somewhere between 5 and 7 months.

Benny and Dash started the day after they turned three months old.

I kept saying my entire pregnancy that these boys had places to be; always kicking, somersaulting, and moving. And apparently, that energy hasn’t left them. They are in a rush to get somewhere and they would like to start now.

What makes early rolling possible: strong neck and upper body muscle development, tummy time, and a nervous system that’s been working overtime since birth. We’ve been doing daily body work since they were tiny with daily tummy time — yes, including their naps and sleeps, and I genuinely believe it has contributed to how physically capable and body-aware these boys already are.

For context on why this matters developmentally: rolling is one of the first full-body coordination movements a baby makes. It requires the neck, shoulders, core, and hips to work together in sequence. When it happens early and symmetrically — both sides, both babies — it’s a sign that development is tracking beautifully. More importantly, it’s a sign for me as a new mom learning about twin life, that has been super reassuring.

So I guess they were built to starting rolling and moving and grooving at three months.

Go, boys. 🤍🤍

Did your baby roll early? When did yours first roll? ↓
