Reckless driving, a loaded ghost gun tossed from a vehicle, a driver on probation and a passenger with an outstanding warrant.

This is what our Special Assignment Team (SAT) deputies encountered Tuesday night while patrolling Canyon Country.

Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Sierra Highway. As deputies continued to monitor the vehicle into a residential neighborhood, they saw items tossed from one of the windows. Those items turned out to be a loaded ghost gun and additional ammunition. 

A traffic stop was conducted. The male adult passenger, was immediately recognized as having an outstanding warrant for assault. He was ultimately arrested on multiple felony weapons-related charges and the outstanding warrant. 

The driver, a male adult, was found to be on probation. He was arrested on multiple felony weapons charges, as well as reckless driving and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Both suspects, ages 20 and 21,  were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remain in custody. 

This incident remains under investigation by our JAG (Juvenile and Gang) detectives.
