Before Oasis conquered Britain, Noel Gallagher had a mission...

Destroy boring music.

While the rest of the UK was losing itself in dance music, rave culture and ecstasy-fuelled nights out, Noel believed rock and roll had lost its soul.

His target?

What he called "junk food music."

Phil Collins. Sting. Safe, polished radio pop.

Noel famously declared:

"If I don't have Phil Collins dead in my fridge by the end of the decade, I'll be a failure."

A joke, obviously. The Gallagher brothers were never known for understatements.

At the time Oasis weren't the best musicians in Manchester.

Not even close.

But Noel insists they had something nobody else had:

SPIRIT.

"We were greater than the sum of our parts."

He credits Bonehead as the glue that held the band together and even calls him the true spirit of Oasis.

Meanwhile the rest of the classic lineup each brought something different:

🎸 Bonehead - the mad one who kept everyone together.

🎸 Guigsy - the laid-back Doctor Who, cricket, weed and Manchester City fanatic who never got flustered.

🥁 Tony McCarroll - the quiet, reserved member from a huge Irish family.

And Noel?

While everyone else was living for the moment, he had a daughter to support and spent his spare time writing songs purely for himself.

Then one night he brought a new song to rehearsal.

A song that started:

"Maybe I don't really wanna know..."

The room changed.

The band changed.

Everything changed.

That song was called...
