I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately (partly because a client brought it up, partly because I keep seeing it). 

The styles we fall in love with on Pinterest were designed for specific lives, and the life they were designed for might not be yours. 

Japandi = Japanese small-space philosophy was born from Tokyo land prices and a restraint around ownership that goes back centuries

Nordic design grew from long winters, a particular quality of light, and a cultural minimalism that isn’t a look but how people actually live, how they host, how they eat.
