And I did! Well, I still have two north-faced windows that were left behind 😅

So, let me dive into details. With the side-note that I am not saying that exterior blinds should replace curtains. Curtains have their specific aesthetic role! 

✨ Exterior blinds offer a range of advantages that can significantly enhance your home’s comfort, energy efficiency, and security:

🙌🏻 Heat Control: External blinds create a barrier between the sun’s rays and your windows, preventing heat from entering your home during the summer months. This can help reduce your reliance on air conditioning and lower your energy bills.

A big part of our house is faced south and even though we live in a temperate climate, our rooms can still get very hot during summer. This year we managed to keep the heat down to 25 degrees Celsius, compared to 27-28. 

🙌🏻 Winter Warmth: In colder weather, external blinds can help retain heat inside your home by minimizing heat loss through windows. We have big windows and I felt this detail.

🙌🏻 UV Protection: External blinds shield your furniture, flooring, and artwork from harmful UV rays, preventing fading and damage.

🙌🏻 Privacy: They provide excellent privacy by blocking the view into your home, allowing you to enjoy your space without feeling exposed.

🙌🏻 Security: External blinds can act as a deterrent to potential intruders, making your home appear less inviting and more secure. 

🙌🏻 Noise Reduction: They can help to dampen outside noise, creating a quieter and more peaceful indoor environment.

🙌🏻 Weather Protection: External blinds can protect your windows from harsh weather conditions like rain, hail, and strong winds.

🙌🏻 Light intensity: you can go from full sunlight, to dimmer, to completely dark (a light setting I love and recommend especially if you have kids 😅)
