Stephen Miller, Trump’s deputy chief of staff and main architect of the administration's immigration policy, followed Secretary of State Marco Rubio's remarks, aiming to drive home the immediacy of the perceived threats he saw to American institutions coming from the left, and what response is needed in return.

Miller argued that the U.S. faces a growing threat from what he called "violent left-wing extremists," saying the nation's institutions have become too weak to defend themselves.

Speaking to representatives from more than 60 countries and Trump administration officials, Miller called left-wing terrorism the "fatal cancer of civilization" and warned that, if left unchecked, it "always becomes a gulag." He argued the U.S. political, legal and judicial systems cannot function if violence and terrorism continue unchecked.

Miller also condemned Antifa protesters, calling them "deformed" and saying their appearance reflects "their inner hatred." He urged countries to defend their societies "with the same passion and force" as they would defend their own homes from an intruder.

The Trump administration has made combating what it describes as violent left-wing extremists, including anarchists and anti-fascists, a top national security priority.
