5 travel luxuries that are actually worth the money

1. A great hotel
Let’s normalise the hotel being more than just a place to sleep - the right hotel can make or break a trip. The location, the atmosphere, the service, the bed, the breakfast and the pool you actually want to spend time beside all matter.

2. Business class on long-haul flights
I don’t think you need to fly business every time, but on an overnight long-haul flight, being able to lie flat, sleep properly and arrive feeling like a functioning person is a game changer.

3. VIP airport greeters
Especially at large or chaotic airports, having someone meet you, guide you through immigration and get you to your transfer can remove so much unnecessary stress.

4. A private boat day
This one nearly always becomes a favourite day of the trip. No crowds, no fixed schedule and the freedom to stop wherever you like.

5. Travel insurance
The least glamorous thing on this list, but possibly the most important. Flights get cancelled. Bags disappear. People get sick. Buy the insurance.

6. A great travel advisor
Because knowing where to go is only the beginning. The right advisor knows which hotel, which room, which transfer, which experiences are genuinely worth it and who to call when something does not go to plan.
