The Freedom 100 is probably the most forgotten Indy 500 event that fell after the Penske family took control of the track during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This cut was damaging to a world of minor league racers wanting to get into the Indy 500 and have a spot in a future race. It gave amateurs the option to race in one of the biggest tracks under a brighter of stages before the start of the greatest spectacle of racing.
