18 years ago, The Dark Knight premiered worldwide, a masterpiece that literally changed forever what a superhero movie could be. 🎬 

The legendary director Christopher Nolan filmed parts in IMAX format, the first to use that technology for action sequences in a fiction film. The script was written with his brother Jonathan, with the story of Nolan and David S. Goyer. The cinematography is by Wally Pfister. The music of Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. 

With a budget of 185 million, it raised 1,004 billion dollars, the first comic book film to reach a billion in all of history. The cast: Christian Bale as Batman, Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent, Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Heath Ledger as the Joker. Heath Ledger died on January 22, 2008, six months before the premiere, at the age of 28. 🕊️ 

Between shots he walked around the set talking to himself, and the technical team stayed extra when they knew he was filming to see him act. Christopher Nolan allowed him to direct the two home videos that the Joker sends in the film. 

He won 2 Oscars out of 8 nominations. Heath Ledger won the posthumous Oscar for best supporting actor, the Golden Globe and the BAFTA, more than 30 awards in total.
