The last one 👀 Have you ever thought about it like that??👇

Accessibility has a funny way of making life better for everyone.

There's this concept called universal design...

It's the idea that when we intentionally design spaces / experiences / etc. to be usable by as many people as possible, everyone benefits.

Think about it ⤵️

✨ An accessible playground allows people with disabilities, siblings, friends, grandparents, and caregivers of all abilities to play together.

✨ Voice-to-text and speech-to-text tools can be life-changing for someone with a disability, but they’re also used by parents, students, professionals, etc.

✨ Closed captions were originally designed for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, but I can't be the only one who just always has them on?!

✨ Automatic doors make buildings more accessible for people with physical disabilities, but they’re just as helpful when you’re pushing a stroller / carrying groceries.

✨ Visual schedules in classrooms can support students with IEPs, but they also help lots of children understand expectations / reduce anxiety.

Accessibility is about removing barriers. Period.

And when we design with the people who have the greatest access needs in mind, we often end up creating something better for everyone. 🫶
