સંયુક્ત રાષ્ટ્ર સુરક્ષા પરિષદ (UNSC) માં અસ્થાયી સભ્યપદ મેળવવા માટે ભારતે સત્તાવાર રીતે ચૂંટણી પ્રચાર શરૂ કરી દીધો છે. વિદેશ મંત્રી એસ. જયશંકરે ન્યૂયોર્કથી આ વૈશ્વિક અભિયાનનો પ્રારંભ કર્યો છે. મહત્વનું છે કે ભારત લાંબા સમયથી UNSC માં વ્યાપક સુધારાની માંગ સતત ઉઠાવતું રહ્યું છે. ભારતની આ ઉમેદવારી બાદ ચીને સાવધ પ્રતિક્રિયા આપી છે, જ્યારે બીજી તરફ વિશ્વની મહાસત્તાઓ ગણાતા અમેરિકા, રશિયા, ફ્રાન્સ અને બ્રિટન ભારતની ઉમેદવારીના ખુલ્લા સમર્થનમાં આવ્યા છે.
