48 years ago, motorsport pioneer Janet Guthrie shattered expectations at the indianapolismotorspeedway, qualifying 15th and racing her way to a phenomenal ninth place finish 🏎️💪

She entered the race with a team she formed, owned, and managed herself. Driving for her self-funded team, Guthrie completed all 200 laps while hiding a fractured right wrist from race officials! Despite the physical pain, she ran a legendary race to secure her historic top-10 finish. 

Guthrie’s incredible drive remained the highest finish by a female driver at the iconic Indy 500 for over two decades, paving the path for future generations of women to push the limits at the Brickyard 🏁

Beyond the Indy 500, Janet's legacy is unmatched. As an aerospace engineer, pilot, and the first woman to also tackle the Daytona 500, she redefined what was possible both on and off the asphalt. Today, her racing suit resides in the Smithsonian, a permanent testament to her status as a true trailblazer. 

Her barrier-breaking performance proved to the world that determination, focus, and passion know no limits at the track 💜
