This week, we're proud to celebrate the extraordinary people behind-the-scenes who make your Toronto Zoo a world-class conservation science organization and destination for animal well-being, conservation and wildlife care.

National Zookeeper Week, recognized by the American Association of Zoo Keepers (aazkinc), honours the animal care professionals whose passion and expertise help protect wildlife, inspire millions of guests and advance conservation efforts around the world. Their mission is to advance excellence in the zookeeping profession, foster effective communication beneficial to animal care, support deserving conservation projects, and promote the preservation of our natural resources and animal life. 

Closer to home, and as true Guardians of Wild, our Wildlife Care team bring compassion, professionalism and an incredible depth of knowledge to their work everyday. From preparing specialized diets and creating enriching habitats to participating in cooperative care, monitoring animal health, supporting breeding programs and contributing to conservation science, their work goes far beyond what most guests ever see.

We thank them for their unwavering commitment, tireless dedication, and professionalism they show every animal entrusted to our care. Their patience, skill and compassion helps ensure every individual receives the highest standard of care, while inspiring the next generation of conservationists. Not only does their work make a difference within our Zoo, but for wildlife around the globe!

Throughout the week, we'll be introducing you to some of the incredible people behind the habitats, sharing their stories, celebrating their achievements and offering a glimpse into what it means to be a Guardian of Wild.
