I've been shown YT videos by my husband to learn more about this technique to generate more topspin.  It took me a long time before i can say that i met the minimum standards of this windshield wiper motion. 🙂‍↔️He said that a heavy topspin is good for a # of reasons:

1. Increased net clearance - reduced errors. Goes over the net and has a dipping trajectory. 

2. Topspin produces a higher bounce - making returns difficult and pushing opponents into defensive positions. 

3. Makes a good offensive and defensive play!
