In her victim impact statement, Mace accused Cain of expressing renewed intent to kill her, citing information from a source identified as a "jail informant."

"A person who truly regrets his words and now insists they were never meant as threats does not restate the same violent intent from inside a jail cell," Mace's statement reads.

She claimed Cain's "continued statements from jail undermine any claim of remorse and the argument that no real threat ever existed."
