This week, we expect to get Issue 15 into Final Review, which means most of the legwork of writing, editing, and design is done and we're giving the magazine one last look, from cover to cover, before we send it off to the printer. So much care has gone into piecing this one together and we're excited for you to dive in, likely in just a few more weeks. 

This one features some of my favorite stories, including a profile of the first Mexican person to complete the Triple Crown and her own new route across Baja California. 

Ever noticed how seemingly every national park and forest has different requirements for bear canister use? One feature in Issue 14 reports on why that is and the bureaucratic and legal mess than could be slowing down bear canister innovation. 

We've got backpacking trips to Maine's Bold Coast (which holds some of the only coastal backpacking in New England), Japan's Michinoku Trail, a new route honoring the endangered Southern California steelhead, and a bikepacking trip across the state of Washington that's helping the photographer/writer come to grips with grief. 

There's a map of Rocky Mountain National Parks that takes you to the park's dwindling glaciers, a review of a floating outhouse on the Texas coast, a recipe for Cuban mojo rice bowls, a profile of a women-led K-9 search and rescue team, and an illustration about adventurous friendships from Semi Rad's Brendan Leonard. And a bunch more. 

We've been reading all these stories countless times in the last few weeks, but we're giving them one final pass as we speak, hoping to get things to the printer in the coming days. From there, it's another few weeks before the magazines show up in your mailboxes—we'll keep you updated. In the meantime, if you're not already, consider subscribing before August 1.
