Continuing to tell our Centennial story, meet Smyth Brohard!

Brohard served seven terms as mayor of Venice and was still serving in office when he passed away in 1971. He also owned and operated Smitty’s Tavern in Venice and Fort Myers and was an active member of the Elks and Rotary Club.

You might recognize his name from the beloved Brohard Beach, the only dog beach in Sarasota County! 🐾🏖️

As we celebrate #100YearsOfVenice, we’re honoring the people whose service helped shape our City on the Gulf.
