Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Bernthal revealed that Tom Holland was the one who convinced him to audition for the role of Frank Castle in Daredevil Season 2.⁠

The pair were filming the medieval drama Pilgrimage when Marvel was casting the Punisher. Bernthal said Holland kept encouraging him to go for the part and even helped him understand the character's rich backstory and emotional depth.⁠

Bernthal eventually submitted an audition tape, landed the role, and went on to deliver what many fans consider the definitive live action version of the Punisher.⁠

Turns out Spider-Man played a pretty important role in bringing the Punisher to the MCU after all.⁠
