1991: Richard Linklater gets out of a Roy’s Taxi service cab near The Castillian after ranting to his driver about a dream he had on the bus.

2026: Today, The Castilian still stands on San Antonio Street, but Roy’s Taxi service no longer exists.

1991: At Nueces and 24th streets, a man runs his mother over and speeds off before a couple of unhurried passerbys discuss what to do next.

2026: Today, the corner of Nueces and 24th Street is still there, but has slightly changed with new stoplights and streetlights.

1991: Songwriter Keith McCormack, the man with the guitar, stands in front of the University Baptist Church and plays “A Disturbed Young Man With a Tan,” one of Linklater’s favorite songs.

2026: Today, the steps of the modernized University Baptist Church still lie on the sidewalk along Guadalupe Street.
