🎾 BTM x Virtus | LTA Level One Coaching Course – Day 1 ✅

What a powerful first day yesterday with an amazing group of future coaches! The energy, focus, and willingness to learn were unreal. From delivering fun, inclusive on-court activities to building confidence in communication and leadership, everyone put in serious work. 💪🏾

Huge shoutout to Andy Knibbs for top-class delivery and creating such a supportive learning space, and to Alexis Simms from the LTA for coming down and backing what we’re building.

Why Does This Matter?

Tennis is a global, diverse, and inclusive sport, but for too long, access hasn’t reflected that. We need coaches who represent the communities they serve, understand cultural context, and make new players feel seen, welcome, and confident.

Cost, access, and representation are real barriers to entry; they make many feel like tennis isn’t for them.

With the support of Virtus, we were able to subsidise the course from £250 to £50, wrap it in mentoring, and connect it to real coaching opportunities within our community sessions.

That’s how Black Tennis Mentors builds pathways: train locally, coach locally, grow the game from the ground up.

This isn’t just about qualifications. It’s about building the next wave of Black and diverse coaches who will shape the future of tennis across the UK, in parks, clubs, and schools. 🌍🎾

Day 2 is on Wednesday, 6th August, and we can’t wait to see our coaches flourish. Let’s keep the momentum rolling! 🙌🏾🎾
