Teddy Long pushed back on Maven's recent claim that WWE's product is better without Vince McMahon. Responding to a fan on Wrestling's Road Trip After Hours who cited the comment and disagreed with it, Long sided with the fan: "Yeah, I disagree too. I disagree with that totally. You know what I mean? That product will never be what Vince created."

Long pointed to McMahon's presence in production: "Vince was always serious. When we went live, wherever we were, and Vince was sitting there behind the controls, he stayed right on top of it, brother. That's why he made it so good, because he didn't play."

Co-host Mac Davis agreed, saying, "I think Vince had a better handle on the wrestling business than what's being done now," and pointed to current ticket pricing, suggesting SummerSlam's soft sales trace back to fans priced out by recent premium event costs.

Long also shared a story about botching a live promo and being called over by McMahon afterward: "I said, golly, I missed that word. He said, 'Listen, if it happened live, it was meant to be.' He told me that. He said, 'Don't be so hard on yourself.'"

Long, a WWE Hall of Famer, worked for the company as a referee, manager, and SmackDown General Manager across more than two decades.
