Silence has a cost. You saw the fight and didn’t step in because you said it was “none of your business.”
You heard a powerful man call a woman a pig, another one stupid and you either laughed or stood silent because you didn’t want to jeopardize your standing.
So I have to ask: How long will you wait before you use your voice? We often wonder how atrocities happen, how injustice spreads, or how cruelty becomes accepted. The answer is rarely that no one noticed. It’s that too many people noticed… and chose silence. If you want to live in a better world, a stronger community, a more just society, then be part of building it. Speak up when it’s uncomfortable. Stand beside those who stand alone. Challenge what’s wrong, even when it costs you something. History isn’t shaped only by those who do wrong.
