Where you live should never dictate the quality of your mental health, but for Black mothers, it does. Postpartum depression is 80% greater in Black mothers living in small cities and rural communities compared to their white counterparts.

In rural areas and smaller towns, the maternal health crisis is amplified by:
- Maternal healthcare deserts with a lack of maternal and mental health specialists
- Fewer culturally competent resources tailored to the needs of Black mothers
- Isolation and systemic barriers that make seeking help even harder

We cannot achieve true maternal justice without addressing the unique struggles of rural and small-town communities. Every mother, no matter their zip code, deserves accessible, compassionate, and equitable mental healthcare.
