1. If you’re ranked under 150, you’re broke…
After flights, hotels, coaches, physios, food, stringing, and taxes — there often isn’t much left.(or nothing)

2. It’s not as glamorous as people think.
Players travel the world, but most of what they actually see is: hotel, tennis courts, gym, grocery store, restaurant, airport. Repeat.

3. Winning $5 million doesn’t mean you take home $5 million.
A percentage goes to the coaching team, travel expenses, bonuses, management, agents, taxes — and depending on the country, taxes alone can be 20–40%+.

4. It’s literally a job where your the court is your office.
You spend 6–15 hours a day training, competing, recovering, stretching, eating clean, sleeping on schedule, and doing everything possible to be ready for the next day.

5. At the very top, most real money comes from sponsorships and endorsements.
Prize money is huge, but the biggest careers are built through brand deals, appearance fees, bonuses, and long-term partnerships.

6. Tennis is one of the cruelest sports because the season basically never ends.
Players are expected to perform for 11 months straight, in different countries, surfaces, climates, time zones, and conditions.

7. A lot of tennis players grow up in a bubble.
Parents, coaches, physios, fitness trainers, agents — everyone revolves around their schedule from a young age. Some players get older, but those habits don’t always change.
(Lack of empathy, education, egoism & narcissism often follow them…. Do you recognize anybody having such qualities?🧐)

8. You lose almost every week.
In most sports, you can lose matches and still have a “season.” In tennis, unless you win the tournament, your week ends with a loss. Even top players lose constantly.

9. The ranking system creates insane pressure.
You’re not just trying to win points — you’re defending last year’s points. So even if you play well, your ranking can drop if you don’t repeat your previous results.

10. Some parents of pro players are monsters seeing their kid as a cash cow = very toxic relationships:((
