📈 YANKOW MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACT IN CHAMPIONSHIP FRESHMAN SEASON‼️🥍

Abington Heights rising sophomore attack Brooklyn Yankow caught up with NEPA Lacrosse after being named the 2026 NEPA Lacrosse Girls Co-Breakout Player of the Year.

Yankow made an immediate impact during her first varsity season, finishing with 55 goals and 26 assists for 81 points in 22 games.

She earned First Team WVC Coaches’ All-Conference honors and was selected to both the 22-player NEPA Lacrosse All-District Team and 10-player Rising Stars Team.

Yankow also helped Abington Heights capture its second straight WVC championship and third consecutive District 2 title, gaining valuable postseason and championship experience during her freshman year.

She credited club lacrosse, her welcoming teammates and the support of her older sister for helping make the transition to the varsity level easier.

Within Abington Heights’ balanced attack, Yankow focused on pushing transition and creating opportunities for her teammates through assists and off-ball movement before taking her own scoring chances. She said the Lady Comets’ depth made it difficult for opposing defenses to focus on any one player.

Yankow also discussed the championship mindset she learned from Abington Heights’ veteran leaders. The team established its goal of winning another district title early in the season, which helped create focused and productive practices throughout the year.

As one of the older players reminded her, success is not created solely on game day—it is built throughout the entire season.

Yankow plays midfield with Phantastix Lacrosse, where she has spent the offseason improving her defense and footwork while sharpening the smaller parts of her game, including stick skills, ground balls and quicker decision-making.

After making such a large offensive impact as a freshman, she hopes to return as a more well-rounded and confident player who can contribute across the entire field—not only on attack.
