On the last day of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week, Maia tells us about her dreams for the future and how she balances playing professionally alongside her university studies 🎾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📚 “One of my earliest memories of playing tennis was in my back garden with my brother and sister, we used to draw chalk lines on the ground to make a mini court,” she laughs. “I most enjoy the competitive side of matches and tournaments. It’s a sport where you can never get bored as there are so many different shots and different ways you can play on the court – no two matches are the same. 
I’m most proud of winning three professional singles and doubles titles, and one day I’d love to be within the top 50 best players in the world. I’m currently studying Sports Studies at Stirling University and can’t believe how helpful they have been in allowing me to juggle studying and playing professionally. I really enoy my degree and found that it’s actually helped me be a better player as it gives me something else to focus on when I’m travelling on the road at tournaments. I also love playing for the university team as I’ve mostly been training by myself so far, so I’ve really welcomed being part of a team – it’s been a whole lot of fun. 
I just think that tennis is awesome. It’s a great way to socialise with friends and family as it’s a sport you can play throughout your whole life. No matter what age you are, you can always pick up a racquet and have fun.” #SheCanSheWill
