## Caption

In a simplified kind of way, steel is able to be hardened because of its carbon content. If a steel doesn't have too much carbon, it isn't going to be able to achieve substantial hardening, no matter how you heat treat it. Now, all the machining, treating, tempering, and other processing are all crucial to get a suitable (nay, an excellent) tool. If you don't have the right basic stuff, all the other stuff won't save you.

If you're talking about a woodworking chisel, it's got to be pretty darn hard, or it won't take a sharp edge, and it definitely won't retain a good edge during work! That's a long way of saying our steel blade doesn't skimp on the carbon, and our processes allow for excellent edge retention on our fine woodworking chisels. The blade will perform better and won't need as frequent sharpening, so you can get back to work!
