Meet Flock cameras.

These AI-powered license plate readers don't just capture your license plate. They can record your: 🚗 Vehicle make & model 🎨 Color 📍 Location 🕒 Date & time 🏷️ Bumper stickers 🛻 Roof racks 🔍 Other identifying features

Millions of vehicles are scanned every day—including people who aren't suspected of any crime.

Many of these systems are purchased with your tax dollars and deployed by local governments and law enforcement. Whether you think that's good policy or bad policy, it's worth knowing how widespread the network has become.

That's why projects like DeFlock exist.

🗺️ Their goal is simple: 📸 Document where these cameras are located. 🌎 Build a public map. 🔎 Increase transparency around mass surveillance.

The map already contains well over 100,000 reported cameras across the United States.

⚠️ And no... absolutely nobody should cut down or damage a Flock camera. Or put a bag over it. Or throw poop at it. That would be illegal and a terrible idea. 😏
