Dear Volleyball,

From the moment I first stepped onto the court, I knew you were going to change my life - and you did. You are more than just a sport to me. You are my everything.

You gave me a family away from family - a bond of camaraderie and sisterhood. Together, we fought, laughed, cried, and celebrated, side by side. You taught me that wins are sweeter when shared, and losses are lighter when carried by teammates.

The fire of competition fueled me. It pushed me to go further and give more than I ever thought I had. You challenged me to grow - not just as an athlete, but as a person. You molded my character, shaped my discipline, and taught me resilience. 

You were my classroom long before I earned my degree. Through you, I found opportunity, education, purpose - a path paved with passion and perseverance. Because of you, I traveled to new places, met incredible people, and experienced moments I’ll carry with me forever.

But you were also one of my biggest heartbreaks. Walking away after enduring injury after injury was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. The court and the crowd were home, and walking away felt like losing a piece of myself. It took everything to move on and  accept it. 

Even while I was still playing, I found myself drawn to the sidelines - and since 2012, I’ve been coaching, guiding, and passing on the love you gave me. After I stepped off the court for good, that role became even more meaningful. In every drill, every game, every young player finding their rhythm - I find you again. I’ll keep sharing that love for as long as I can, because you’ll always be a part of me.

Being able to empower others through volleyball and knowing I have the ability to inspire change is something truly special. I’ll keep giving back to you, because everything I am today is because of you.

I love you. You are my life, and I’m endlessly thankful for every moment we’ve shared and for the moments we’ll still share in new ways.
