Destiny's Child released their sophomore album, 'The Writing's on the Wall.' The original quartet lineup of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson. Dissatisfied with the neo-soul direction of their 1998 debut, the group pushed for far more creative control this time around, bringing in a fresh roster of collaborators including Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, Missy Elliott, Rodney Jerkins, and LaShawn Daniels. Beyoncé alone co-wrote 11 of the 16 tracks and produced four, drawing lyrical inspiration from real conversations she overheard at her mother Tina Knowles's hair salon, where customers vented about men, relationships, and money troubles.
