One of the worst pieces of financial advice I keep hearing is that the answer to the UK’s problems is simply to “tax the rich”.

Gary’s Economics has proposed a 2% wealth tax on anyone worth more than £10 million, but I think that skips over the more important question: what is the government doing with the enormous amount of tax it already collects?

We don’t have a lack of money in this country. We have a lack of accountability for how that money is spent.

Before handing the government even more, we should be challenging the waste, poor decisions and lack of results we’re already paying for.

More tax won’t fix bad management. It will just give bad management a bigger budget.
