At first glance, it looks like someone simply added portals to an old Grand Theft Auto game. 🎮

Walk through one glowing doorway...
And suddenly you're standing in Liberty City, Vice City, or San Andreas.

But this isn't an official Rockstar feature.

It's an incredibly ambitious fan-made project created by Dryxio GTA, showcasing just how far game modding has evolved.

The original GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas were never designed to exist inside the same playable world.

Each game uses its own map data, textures,
scripts, physics, lighting, animations, and countless technical systems.

Connecting them isn't as simple as copying files from one game to another.

It requires reverse engineering, custom programming, and a deep understanding of Rockstar's classic RenderWare engine.

Every portal has to seamlessly unload one game's world while loading another without corrupting player data, crashing the game, or breaking core mechanics.

That means handling different coordinate systems, collision maps, object IDs, AI behavior, weather effects, and memory management—all in real time.

Even a tiny mistake can cause the entire game to fail.

Projects like this often take hundreds—or even thousands—of hours of coding, debugging, and testing.

What's even more impressive is that these games were released more than two decades ago, long before modern game engines were built for seamless world streaming.

Yet talented creators like Dryxio GTA continue to push those technical limits, proving that creativity often outlives the technology itself.

This isn't just nostalgia.

It's software engineering, reverse engineering, and passion coming together to create something millions of GTA fans once thought was impossible.
