Every label people reach for when a child won’t go to school says something about their character. 

Not one of them is true.

I heard all of them - from teachers, from family, from therapists, from strangers online. 

None of them explained what I was actually watching happen to my daughter.

What I was watching was a body in alarm. 
Not a teenager making a choice.

Once I understood that, I stopped trying to fix her character and started helping her body feel safe. 

That’s the shift that got her back - not punishment, not more pressure, not “tough love.” 

Safety first.

She missed over 100 days of school, in one year alone.

She’s now at her first-choice university. 

If you’ve heard every one of these words said about your child and none of them felt right - trust that instinct. 
You were right.
