Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has visited the emergency command centre in Vall d’Uixó, near Valencia, where a wildfire remains out of control. 
He’s warned that “difficult and complex hours” still lie ahead and that temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days.

The Spanish Met Office, AEMET, has issued amber alerts for a widespread heatwave until at least Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 39C to 41C by Wednesday.
