Four beluga whales have arrived safely in Chicago, while two others were relocated to San Antonio in Texas, after their former marine park in Ontario, Canada closed down.
 
The six belugas were transported in specialised, temperature-controlled containers by truck and airplane to their new homes. Veterinarians and animal care specialists accompanied the whales throughout the journey.
 
These were the first transfers in a broader international relocation effort involving 30 beluga whales from the former Marineland park.
