4th violent incident in or around Downtown Ottawa’s ByWard Market in just over a week‼️😨🔪

Downtown Ottawa has now recorded four serious violent incidents over an eight-day period, including three in the ByWard Market and one nearby at Rideau and Cumberland.

July 13: A man was critically injured in a st*bbing during an attempted robbery near George and Dalhousie streets.

July 14: A woman in her 20s was found with st*b wounds near Rideau and Cumberland streets, including injuries to her face. Police later said her injuries were non-life-threatening.

Weekend of July 18–19: A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital in serious condition after suffering a facial laceration and serious head injury near George and Cumberland streets.

July 21: A woman in her 20s was allegedly assaulted with a broken bottle at George and Cumberland. Police arrested a 36-year-old Gatineau man who reportedly knew the victim. He faces charges including assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breaching conditions.

Two incidents were st*bbings, while the other two were assaults. One involved a broken bottle, while the object involved in the weekend assault was not publicly confirmed. Two of the four incidents resulted in reported injuries to the victim’s head or face.
